First Aid – Parent Workshop

As part of our Millie’s Mark commitment to help highlight the importance of as many people as possible having some basic first aid skills and knowledge, we were delighted that so many of our Juice Nursery parents were able to join us at our First Aid for Parents Workshop.

The course was run by Paul Green from First Responder to cover some basics of what to do if faced with a first aid emergency situation, so that effective emergency treatment can be given before professional help arrive, which can go a long way to reducing the effects of illness and injury and indeed save a life.

The evening proved very popular and we hope to organise further such workshops in due course.

Big 10th Birthday Bash!

We cannot quite believe it, but this month marks the 10th anniversary since Juice Nursery first opened it doors!

To mark this most special of occasions, we invited all our current children, parents and staff to join us at The Bowdon Parish Centre for our Big 10th Birthday Bash for an afternoon of family fun!

We had a little help from our friends at Stretch-n-Grow, Caroline and Kathy, who came along to put us all through our paces (which meant we had definately earnt our birthday cake!) and Milena from Mess Around Cheshire, who created a room full of messy activities all with a birthday theme, for the children to enjoy!

Safe to say we all had a fabulous time…. and here’s next 10 years!!!

Toddle Waddle for Francis House

Juice Nursery were out in force today, with over 50 children, together with parents and staff taking part in our sponsored walk, which took us through Altrincham and around Stamford Park, to raise funds for Francis House Children’s Hospice.

We raised a most marvellous £323 for this fabulous charity, so a BIG thank you to all those of you who supported us! :)

I CAN Accreditation – it’s good to talk

Hot on the heels of achieving our Millie’s Mark earlier this summer, we are proud to share our success, here at Juice Nursery, in attaining I CAN Early Talk Accreditation at a Supportive Level.

Awarded by children’s communication charity, I CAN, this is an endorsement of a setting’s ability to:
support the language skills of all childrendemonstrate good practice in promoting speech, language and communication development in childrenshow good practice in the identification and referral of children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).

We found undertaking this accreditation to be an extremely valuable experience, providing an opportunity for us to reflect on the quality & focus of our practice, as we seek to improve and evolve. In addition, receiving this acknowledgement goes a long way in recognising our team’s hard work, commitment to training and their own continued professional development, as well as their determination to provide the children within our nursery with an outstanding level of care.

Juice Nursery awarded a Millie’s Mark!

We are very proud to have been awarded a Millie’s Mark by the NDNA – National Day Nurseries Association, in association with the Department for Education and Millie’s Trust

Achieving a Millie’s Mark means that we are a setting that goes over and above current requirements in terms of what we do to keep children safe, as detailed in the EYFS, aspiring to achieve excellence in terms of first aid.

All our staff have undergone paediatric first aid training, but also as a setting we have demonstrated that we have reflected on our practice to ensure that there we have tight processes and documentation in place and that our staff are competent and feel confident to apply paediatric first aid practically.

This has been a 6 month process for us, and has seen our entire team working together and we are very proud that our efforts have been acknowledged and endorsed through this very special reward.

Rest assured our focus on continuously developing our quality care and education will not stop here…. watch this space for details of a First Aid Workshop for our Juice Nursery parents, coming very soon…..

July Staff Member of the Month

A big shout out to Rachel Girdlestone, our Housekeeper, who was our Juice Nursery July Staff Member of the Month.

An unsung hero of the nursery, this recognition is a very well deserved acknowledgement of all the hard work that Rachel does to keep the nursery running efficiently on a daily basis.

Rachel is proactive, a real team player, constantly going above and beyond. Well done, Rachel!

Bit of a treat for our Juice Nursery Preschoolers today, as Louise Crowther, author of new children’s book,’Marvin’s Seaside Adventures’ came in to visit to our Green Room.

Marvin is a rusty old Mini who has sat neglected on a country garage forecourt for many years, never getting a second glance and certainly never loved or cared for. His one treat is his weekly trip to the car wash – but on one visit, something rather extraordinary happens. Instead of emerging as a slightly cleaner version of his battered old self, he is magically transformed into what he once was: a beautiful, shiny red car. The car wash takes him to a new adventure, and he finds himself on a sunny sea front. He meets a young lifeboat named Larry, and the two quickly become firm friends. But during his time at the seaside, Larry gets into trouble out at sea after showing off!

Will Marvin be able to save the day?

Staff Member of the Month – June

Rather than single out one member of our team as our Juice Nursery Staff Member of the Month for June, we wanted to recognise our entire team, saying a BIG thank you to everyone, for all that they have done recently getting ready for Parent’s Evening and working together during what is always our busiest time of year.

To say thank you, we are treating them all to a yummy Honest Crust Wood Fired Pizza on us. Enjoy!
