Altrincham in Bloom!

We were really excited to be asked by Altrincham in Bloom, back in May, to become custodians of a flower planter, located just outside the nursery. With a key focus on encouraging the improvement and development of the planted environment around Altrincham, Alty in Bloom also oversaw the town’s entry into the 2014 RHS Britain In Bloom competition. With a theme of ‘Going for Gold’, we had great fun creating a Treasure Island in our Juice Nursery planter, complete with desert island palm, treasure chest, and lots of pirates, and were delighted to learn last week, that all the community’s efforts paid off, with Altrincham being awarded GOLD in the North West In Bloom awards, as well as ‘Best Community Effort’ & special award for community planters!

Juice Nursery visits the Trafford South Foodbank

As part of their Autumn topic, the children of Juice Nursery have been talking about Harvest Festival, and enlisted the help of nursery parents & staff, collecting non-perishable food items, to donate to Trafford South Food Bank. With an increasing number of people needing to use food banks nationwide, the staff of our Orange Room, who led this initiative, saw this as a great opportunity for us, as a small business to support our local community. Thanks to all the volunteers at the Food Bank, who took the time to show the children around the distribution centre and cafe, as well as explaining to them how the food that they had donated would be used to help those in need.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning…

Thank you to everyone who supported our World’s Biggest Coffee Morning here at Juice Nursery last week. Our Chef, Karen, did us proud and baked up a storm, making lots of tasty treats, including those that appear on our nursery menus, such as bran cakes, banana bread & yummy carrot cake, so that our parents could sample a little of what their children enjoy on a regular basis. Thank you to everyone who donated, helping us to raise a most marvellous grand total of £100.00 for MacMillan Cancer Support.
