Here come the girls!

A BIG shout out to all of our Juice Nursery staff who took part in this weekend’s Race for Life 5k event at Tatton Park!  What a day it was… the sun shone and we had a great time walking, jogging and running our way to the finish line, in this smashing our £1,000 fundraising target! With over £1,700 raised to date, for Cancer Research UK, we would like to thank all those that supported us, either by donating or coming along on the day to cheer us on! Same time next year?

Family fun down on the farm!

There was lots of fabulous family fun to be had today, as our Juice Nursery families got together for the afternoon at Redhouse Farm. And, as this photo proves, it wasn’t just the children that had a great time!! Thank you to everyone who came along and joined us! As well as having a great Juice Nursery get together, we raised a marvellous £120 for Prevent Breast Cancer.

Princess Royal Training Awards 2018

What a fabulous afternoon, sharing with the assessors from the Princess Royal Training Awards & City and Guilds UK all that we have learnt since our staff completed the Mini Me Yoga training programme, earlier this yer.

We are serious about wellbeing here at Juice Nursery, and are really focused on ensuring that we do all that we can to enhance and promote this throughout the nursery, not only concentrating on our children, but also our team too.

The Mini Me programme has been one of the ways in which we have been able to do this, as the training provided our team with skills and techniques to help promote & safeguard wellbeing – physical, mental, emotional and social – whether it be their own, or that of a child in their care

To have even been shortlisted for this award is a real added bonus, and recognition of the progress that we have made, and our staff’s enthusiasm and dedication to ensuring that Juice continues to be a truly outstanding setting!

We are really really proud of our entire team … well done everyone! We would particularly like to thank those staff, children and parents who spoke to the assessors yesterday and yes, please do keep your fingers crossed for us….. #PRTA18 #icingonthecake #seriousaboutwellbeing

Staff Member of the Month – May

Congratulations to Rachel Girdlestone, our Housekeeper, who was our Juice Nursery May Staff Member of the Month. Rachel was nominated by colleagues for doing an absolutely sterling job over the past month, going over and above, keeping us all organised and ship shape.  An unsung hero of the nursery, Rachel always works extremely hard, and this is very well deserved!

STOP PRESS…Altrincham Nursery at Forefront of Mental Health in Education

On Tuesday 1st May 2018, Juice Nursery celebrated becoming the first setting in the world to achieve ‘Mini Me Yoga Accreditation & Nursery status’, with an unveiling of their accreditation plaque.

International children’s yoga company Mini Me Yoga provides children with the tools to understand and take control of their feelings, using breathing, meditation and mindfulness. It increases children’s capacity to learn and be gentle to one another; it teaches respect for nature and how to grow strong mentally and physically.

The company’s founder, Kate Bartram-Brown commented that, “during this age where childhood diabetes, food intolerances and hyperactivity disorders are on the rise, the games and activities bring much needed time for children to create and express themselves.”

Mini Me Yoga is slightly different to most children’s yoga companies as they train parents and practitioners to share a simple 15-minute program with the children in their care. This means that yoga can be incorporated into the children’s everyday lives.

In order to meet the requirements for Mini Me Yoga Accreditation & Nursery status, Juice Nursery has trained 75% of its practitioners, and has incorporated the Mini Me Yoga programme into daily routines .

“We absolutely love Mini Me Yoga here at Juice Nursery and are excited and extremely proud, to become the first early years setting in the world to receive Mini Me Yoga status accreditation, in recognition of our dedication to wellbeing.

With so many benefits to both the children and our staff, the impact of the skills and techniques that we have learnt through the Mini Me Yoga and Positive Thinking programme, have had an extremely positive impact throughout the entire nursery, in a very short space of time.

And, as we strive to work with parents, to give their individual child the very best start in life, we truly believe that the programme has empowered and enabled us to more fully support the emotional, mental and physical health and wellbeing of the children in our care, which is so crucial to their future development and happiness, whilst having great fun at the same time too!” ‘ said Tracy Poole, Physical Development Champion

Ashley Costello, the UK School/Nursery Team Lead for Mini Me Yoga said, “the first Mini Me Yoga Accreditation & School status in the world was presented back in January and since then the programme has gone from strength to strength. I was delighted to present this award to Juice Nursery and it was lovely to spend time with their children, staff and parents, to celebrate this most special of occasions!”

Staff Member of the Month – March

Congratulations to Chanelle Robinson, our Staff Member of the Month in March who was nominated by a parent for really going the extra mile.

“I would just like to say thank you so much to Chanelle in Orange Room for a lovely Parent’s Evening. It was an accurate report and Chanelle was able to give lots examples of how Lucy is coping in Orange Room. Chanelle was very professional last night and has such a lovely manner with Lucy. Hand overs are always detailed and Chanelle knows exactly what Lucy has been up to in the day. The Orbit updates are also extremely detailed, well written and give us a real insight into Lucy’s day. I would like to nominate Chanelle for your ‘Employee of the Month’ for her lovely, warm and friendly manner.’

Well done, Chanelle!

STOP PRESS… Shine A Light Success!

We were extremely proud to have been shortlisted as finalists in the 2018 Shine A Light awards, which saw Danielle Norwood and Sarah Leary (pictured below with Adam Hess, award’s host) travel down to London to attend the awards ceremony yesterday.

And, whilst we weren’t the overall award winners, we were absolutely thrilled that Juice Nursery was ‘Highly Commended’ by the judging panel, in the ‘Early Year’s Setting of the Year’ category, for our commitment to developing children’s speech, language communication skills.

The 2018 Shine a Light Awards, is a national awards scheme, run by learning company Pearson in partnership with The Communication Trust, and celebrates innovative work and excellent practice in supporting children and young people’s communication development, with winners and highly-commended finalists being chosen across 10 categories, chosen by a panel of experts in the sector.

This achievement means such a great deal to us, recognising the effort and determination of our dedicated team of staff, who work so hard to ensure that we provide the child within our care with the best possible start in life. Well done team, we are very proud of you all!

Paint Altrincham Pink

We really were in the pink today, here at Juice Nursery, wearing something pink in support of Prevent Breast Cancer and the Paint Altrincham Pink campaign, which brought the local community together, to raise vital awareness and funds in the fight against Breast Cancer.  For more information on the initiative please follow this link.

Thanks to everyone for putting on some pink, we raised a fabulous £50!

Staff Member of the Month – February

A BIG Juice Nursery shout out to Charlotte Myers, who has really gone the extra mile this past month and as such has been awarded our February, Staff Member of the Month award.

But don’t take our word for it, here is what Evie’s Mum had to say about her…

“A very special thanks goes to Charlotte this week who has really gone the extra mile. Evie has always had a treasured rabbit soft toy who has gone to nursery with her every day since she started. She does everything with him and he goes everywhere with us! However, she unfortunately tends to suck her thumb a lot when she is carrying him (its a comfort thing) and this is not only effecting her teeth (to the frustration of the dentist) but also makes the eczema on her hand worse. I therefore spoke to the girls in Green Room to let them know that we would slowly be working towards rabbit having to stay at home. This Tuesday when I dropped Evie off I told Charlotte it would be rabbit’s last day at nursery and that day she made a whole book of pictures of Evie with her rabbit over the years with “Goodbye Rabbit” written on the front. Evie was absolutely over the moon and it has made the whole process so much easier.
This is just one example of how much the team in Green Room care and look after Evie so well and Charlotte really does deserve a special thanks.

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Kung Hei Fat Choi! Wishing you all health and happiness in the Year of the Dog!

There has been lots going on in and around nursery as we celebrate Chinese New Year, including baking yummy homemade Spring Rolls and delicious homemade cookies as well as painting our own Chinese Dragon, which the children in Orange and Green Rooms proudly paraded through the centre of Altrincham!
