STOP PRESS… Shine A Light Success!

We were extremely proud to have been shortlisted as finalists in the 2018 Shine A Light awards, which saw Danielle Norwood and Sarah Leary (pictured below with Adam Hess, award’s host) travel down to London to attend the awards ceremony yesterday.

And, whilst we weren’t the overall award winners, we were absolutely thrilled that Juice Nursery was ‘Highly Commended’ by the judging panel, in the ‘Early Year’s Setting of the Year’ category, for our commitment to developing children’s speech, language communication skills.

The 2018 Shine a Light Awards, is a national awards scheme, run by learning company Pearson in partnership with The Communication Trust, and celebrates innovative work and excellent practice in supporting children and young people’s communication development, with winners and highly-commended finalists being chosen across 10 categories, chosen by a panel of experts in the sector.

This achievement means such a great deal to us, recognising the effort and determination of our dedicated team of staff, who work so hard to ensure that we provide the child within our care with the best possible start in life. Well done team, we are very proud of you all!

Staff Member of the Month – February

A BIG Juice Nursery shout out to Charlotte Myers, who has really gone the extra mile this past month and as such has been awarded our February, Staff Member of the Month award.

But don’t take our word for it, here is what Evie’s Mum had to say about her…

“A very special thanks goes to Charlotte this week who has really gone the extra mile. Evie has always had a treasured rabbit soft toy who has gone to nursery with her every day since she started. She does everything with him and he goes everywhere with us! However, she unfortunately tends to suck her thumb a lot when she is carrying him (its a comfort thing) and this is not only effecting her teeth (to the frustration of the dentist) but also makes the eczema on her hand worse. I therefore spoke to the girls in Green Room to let them know that we would slowly be working towards rabbit having to stay at home. This Tuesday when I dropped Evie off I told Charlotte it would be rabbit’s last day at nursery and that day she made a whole book of pictures of Evie with her rabbit over the years with “Goodbye Rabbit” written on the front. Evie was absolutely over the moon and it has made the whole process so much easier.
This is just one example of how much the team in Green Room care and look after Evie so well and Charlotte really does deserve a special thanks.

Children’s Mental Health Week

We have had great fun here at Juice Nursery celebrating #BeingOurselves for #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek2018

With a wide range of activities taking place throughout the week, many of which were child-led and initiated, we had fun getting creative, painting self portraits, talking about what makes us the same as our friends and also what makes us different, and got active, working on developing our newly acquired yoga skills, designed to enhance the children’s wellbeing, which we are integrating more and more in to our daily routines. The week’s fun culminated in the children been invited to come in to nursery on the Friday wearing an outfit of their choice, as a way of expressing their individuality.

ABC Does Juice Nursery for #TakeOverTuesday

We were extremely honoured and excited that Juice Nursery were invited to feature on Alistair Bryce Clegg’s Instagram feed in his #TakeOverTuesday slot!

Former teacher, author & education guru, Alistair Bryce-Clegg is reknown in his field for his passion & enthusiasm for all things early years, and therefore being asked to feature on his feed was a real coup for the nursery.
For #TakeoverTuesday we shared with Alistair’s 7000+ followers a little of what our Preschool get up to. We had great feedback from Alistair on the posts and lots of ‘likes’ and thoroughly enjoyed our opportunity to showcase the Green Room.
Details have been shared on our Twitter & Facebook pages, but, if you have an Instagram account click here for more. You might also like to start following the nursery too via this link.

National Storytelling Week 2018

This week is #NationalStorytellingWeek organised by the Society for Storytelling which seeks to celebrate the art of storytelling and the sharing of stories from generation to generation.

“Storytelling can be found enriching lives everywhere. The sharing between teller and listener empowers, feeding the imagination from one generation to the next.”

Inspired to share some of our Green Room’s favourite stories with you, check out our Juice Nursery Preschool Teacher, Kate, reading one of their favourites, ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ by clicking on this link

NDNA Nursery of the Year Awards 2018 are OPEN

We are very proud of our nursery and the quality of care that we provide and would like to publicly acknowledge the efforts of our fabulous team by entering the 2018 NDNA Nursery of the Year Awards.

The NDNA (National Day Nurseries Association) seek to reward and celebrate excellence across the sector, through an annual awards programme, highlighting the fantastic work of nurseries in supporting over one million children and their families.

The programme is open to all nurseries across the UK and are the ONLY awards voted for by parents. As a setting we have entered the ’Nursery of the Year‘ category, which seeks to recognise exceptional settings, providing excellent levels of care to their children.

So, if you would like to show your appreciation for the work that we do then please vote for us, by clicking here. To support your vote please include comments, highlighting what it is that you (and your child!) love and value most about Juice Nursery.

As well as entering as a setting we have also Danielle Norwood forward in the Practitioner of the Year category.

With a passion for all things early years, and a dedication to ensuring that all the children within our setting receive the highest possible level of care, Danielle is an exceptional member of our team, who has found her vocation in life, working with passion and consistently going the extra mile.

Originally joining Juice Nursery in 2008, on a college placement, Danielle has risen through the ranks, from Apprentice to Childcare Worker, to Senior, before being promoted to Room Leader in 2017.

With a key focus on ensuring that we are a truly inclusive setting, Danielle has been the nursery SENCO since 2013, a role that she relishes.

As well as overseeing our SEND provision, Danielle is a Safeguarding Officer, a role which she proactively developed last year, taking responsibility for ensuring all Policies and Procedures are regularly review and updated, as well as running a Safeguarding Refresher Workshop for her colleagues, covering a number of areas including British Values and The Prevent Duty.

With a wealth of experience, bubbly personality and ‘can do’ approach, Danielle is an extremely positive role model, which has also seen her mentoring Apprentices joining the nursery.

Ultimately aspiring to become a Pre School Teacher within a nursery setting, and part of the management team, Danielle is a reflective practitioner, who strives to evolve her practice and, as a result, proactively seeks to continue her professional development.

To register your vote for Danielle click here, providing comments, if possible, detailing why you think Danielle should be the lucky winner of this award.

Thank you for your support :)
